Federal Government, through Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) has granted Water Use Licences to BUA Cement and Penstock Energy Ltd.
The Ag. Executive Director, NIWRMC, Haj. Sakinatu Abbo Jimeta, while presenting the Water Use Licences to the beneficiaries at her office in Abuja urged that the licences should be used for the purposes for which they were granted as set out in the terms and conditions.
She said the companies will be supervised by the Commission and the licences shall be revalidated after every two years.
The Director, Allocation and Authorization, Engr. Shazali Uba Ajingi while giving his remarks, said “the Commission issues out licences to make sure water is being allocated to every users such as hydropower, Irrigation scheme and water supply for equity. It is mostly done based on catchment availability to make sure each user gets its own share without having conflict and to ensure sustainability.”
The Social Performance Specialist, BUA Cement, Rabiu Maska and the Senior Manager, Legal and Regulatory, Penstock Energy Ltd, Pamela Gold, while receiving their licences from the Ag. Executive Director thanked the Commission for granting them the licences.
